ARTIST STATEMENT | One of the many wonderful elements of photography is the happenstance. “Alaska Moon” and “Caribbean Moon” were unplanned and occurred at sea, nearly four years apart. I happened to peer through the window late at night on both occasions and had the good fortune of being on a favorable side of the cruise ship. My late college professor and poet, Maureen Seaton, once stated that the moon is the object that surfaces the most in western poetry. The same can be said of my camera roll. These images depict the quieter moments of very memorable days with my family while sharing my lifelong admiration for the moon.
