ARTIST BIO | Tobias Tarland was born in 1988 in the south of Germany and is now working in Berlin. His academic background in Motion Design, followed later by Cultural Studies and Philosophy, provides a unique foundation that combines technical skill with deep theoretical reflection. Several years of professional work as a motion designer allowed him to refine his visual language in practice. His studies in Cultural Studies, in turn, sharpened his perception of societal structures, symbols, and cultural narratives. This dual perspective informs an approach grounded in strong conceptual framework, where aesthetic decisions are closely tied to critical reflection.
ARTIST STATEMENT | The series “Rhymes of Rupture,” developed over three years (2020–2023), consists of twelve digital 3D renderings forming a visual cycle that explores the increasing fragmentation of contemporary society. Set in a world shaped by alienation, its central theme is the search for identity. Here, beings and creatures of all kinds struggle for recognition and representation. Symbolism and composition are not merely aesthetic tools but elements of a layered narrative—one that unfolds not linearly, but intuitively.
Each piece invites viewers to interrogate their own perception:
Which of my experiences define what I feel? Which ideologies inform what I ask?
