In other words, stillness
is just an illusion
we have created.
One of those temporary stages
where awe pools in the heart.
This morning—clouds clearing
off rain and light scouring
the field for color again—
I could have sworn
I held the world still
for just one moment.
How I stood at the top
of the hill, soundless,
the way a seed pod
becomes full before bursting.
